Spring Time Wreath

It is definitely Spring around here.  We have had such great weather.  On one of those nice spring days, I couldn’t help but make my entry way look a little bit more like spring.

I decided I needed a new wreath.  I searched all over my pinterest boards and married a few ideas together.  This is what I came up with:

I already had the letter S.  It was a metal S that was tired and needed a new look.  I added some green moss to it.  I bought the moss in a sheet instead of individual pieces which proved to be so much easier.  I attached it to the S with spray adhesive.

I had a straw wreath laying around in my attic that I picked up at a thrift store for 50 cents.  I covered it in strips of burlap.  Once it was covered, I attached the mossy S with my glue gun.

I picked up these fun flowers at the hob lob and laid them out just how I liked.  Then I added them to my wreath also with my glue gun.  I had some left over fabric that I used as my ribbon to hang it from the door.

It was such a simple project, and made such a difference. 

I had enough flowers left to add some to this pot.  It added just the right amount of spring to my entry way. 

I swept out the entry way, and wiped all the furniture down.  The pollen had left such an awful mess. 

With our house on the market, I wanted to make the right first impression. 

… and I think it helped.  Our house was under contract in 6 days.  I can’t believe that this house is almost no longer ours.

I love this house.

I love my entry way.

I love making new spring wreaths for my entry way.

Birthday Gifts Week {gives from the past and a giveaway}

Today, I am going to share a few links to some fun gift ideas that I have given in the past.

This is a sweet little stationary tray that we gave for Birthday’s last year.

The year before that, we made a homemade apron, and passed along a recipe for cookies made from a cake mix.

We included the cake mix with the gift. I can’t seem to find the post about this.  It was much to long ago.

I have also enjoyed making framed monograms to give to friends.  Here are a few that I made.

Birthday Gifts Week {Fort Kit}

This is a fun gift that I just had to try out.  I have had a really hard time coming up with something great for boys.  I had seen this idea on pinterest, and I just had to make my own take on it.

The Fort Kit

This was so simple to make, I found the sheet already in the bag at Target.  Even better, it was on clearance for $4.

I cut out a red A for child’s first name and added it to the front of the bag.  I used spray adhesive to make it stick.  If I would have had more time, I think I would have stitched it on. 

I was able to re-fold the sheet and add the rest of the goodies to the bag.

Then I made a tag to attach to the bag.

Kit includes:

One flat sheet

A flashlight

Big clips

A rope

and some treats to hide out and eat

I found everything except the sheet at the dollar store.

I was hoping that this gift would be well received.  I think the gift was a hit when just an hour later I got this text:

“They love the fort.  Thanks so much for a great gift.”

This picture was included with the text.

I think it was a hit. 

My boys are begging for their own kit.

I am going to be stocking up on sheets for this gift.

Birthday Gift week {Favorite things}

I thought it might be fun to send my mom and my BFF a favorite things box for their birthday.

A few of my favorite things for some of my favorite people.

This is an idea of what I mailed them:

I put a label on each item to explain just a little bit better.

Included in the box: I made them a CD of my favorite songs, my favorite popcorn seasoning, my favorite Easter treat, cinnamon bears, sugar cookie mix(I love cookies), my favorite deodorant(I know kind of funny, but I found one that I love; and it’s men’s deodorant)(even better, I found it in a trial size), a notebook(because I love making lists), a bracelet in my favorite color, my favorite gum, and my favorite drink packet.

I love this gift because I get to share something that I enjoy on a daily basis with people that I get to see a couple times a year.

I saw this similar idea was posted just yesterday on eighteen 25.  Their packaging is fun too.
