Isaac’s Art Party

This year for Isaac’s 6th Birthday, he decided on an art party.

It was a great choice since Isaac loves doing art.

Here is a peak at what we did:

As you can tell this was a great party.

If you want to avoid some anxiety; I would recommend having one more helper to help with all the crafts.  These kids were also only 5 and 6.  You wouldn’t need a helper if they were older.

It was a great day, a fun party, and it brought a smile to my sweet boys face.

Recent proud moments…

Even though our life has been turned upside down as of late; we have had many moments around here that I am so proud of.

Moments that are worth documenting.

1. Coming to the end of this medical school, residency, fellowship, and moving all over the world journey.

2. Realizing how hard it has been, but coming through the other side stronger and better.

3. Watching Jonathan as he accepts his fellowship awards; knowing how hard he has worked.

4. Getting the news that he passed his boards.  Jonathan is board certified.  WOW!!

5.  Watching Jex receive his Arrow of Light. Knowing how hard he worked to receive it.

6.  Seeing my husband stand in that room during Jex’s ceremony as an Eagle Scout.

All these beautiful moments that make a mom and wife proud.

No good very bad day.

It’s been one of those days around here.

Isaac is really having one of those days.

He got his tonsils out and just doesn’t feel well.

Photobucket

He does make the cutest patient.

I have enjoyed taking care of him.

He doesn’t whine or fuss.  He just lays around.

I keep telling him that I am so proud of him for having so much courage and strength.

I really enjoyed hanging out with just him all day in his hospital room.

We watched movies, talked, laughed, ate popsicles, and played with airplanes.

…and now today he doesn’t feel up to any of those things.

He is just having one of those no good very bad days.

I have had one of those days too.

One of those days that I think we all experience as mothers.

Mine is a different kind of hurt.  Unlike Isaac it is not physical pain.

It has been a day filled with tears.

One of those days where you cry all day and almost anything can bring on the tears.

It didn’t start off good.

I hope it ends better.

Photobucket

I could really use a hug.

While sitting here in my not so very good state, I stumbled on this video.

It made my cry.

…and then I realized that my not so very bad day probably isn’t so bad at all.

This video is a must see.

I am so thankful to the members of our church and all others who have helped in this cause; including members from our ward right here in PA.

Do I feel silly for having a bad day when I know people have bigger worries?

No, not at all.  We all have to deal with our own heartaches.

However, the video did lift my spirits seeing the good in people, and in turn helped me recognize the good in myself.

Which is something I needed reminding of today.

…and on a bad day, I am thankful for that.

I do hope you all are having a great day.

Here are to better tomorrows.

Oh, and thanks for letting me be real today.

Hugs to my Isaac.

Turning Five…

I turned five last week.  It was a great day.

Photobucket

I went to bed worried that it would be a bad day.

I went to bed with the worst sore throat, the day before I turned five.  I had a fever all day.

I also got a black eye from running in to my sister, a few day before.

My mom says to stop running around the house.

I was in bad shape.

Photobucket

but, when I woke up on my birthday my fever was gone and my throat felt a little better.

I woke up to a booby trap.  My mom had booby trapped me in my room.

I thought that was so funny.

Photobucket

I also had a nice note on the door, written on sticky notes.

Photobucket

For breakfast, I wanted cake batter waffles.

Photobucket

I still didn’t feel like eating, but I pretended for my mom.

Photobucket

Tess liked the cake batter waffles.

Photobucket

When I came downstairs, the room was filled with balloons.

Photobucket

Each balloon had a letter.  Jex helped me figure out what they spelled.

Photobucket

They said, “pop me.”

Photobucket

So I used a pin, and popped all five balloons.

Each one had a dollar in it.  Five dollars for five years old.

Photobucket

I laughed and laughed.

I also love seeing all the decorations just for me all over the house.

Photobucket

And then my mom let me….

Photobucket

…open a gift.

Photobucket

I think she knew I would play with it all day.

Photobucket

Jex helped me put the lego set together.

Photobucket

…and all I wanted to do was play.

Photobucket

My mom did make me take a few pictures.

Photobucket

She said, “you can take a few with your cars.” I wanted to have Jex in them, because he helped me build them.

Photobucket

She keeps saying, “I can’t believe your five, you were just my baby like five minutes ago .”

DSC_1839-1

I like being five.

I didn’t feel like eating lunch, so my mom took me to get a milkshake.

Photobucket

(taken with mommy’s iphone)

That was a yummy lunch. Did you notice my black eye?

Photobucket

…and we played some more.

In the evening, we had to go to the school to meet my teacher.

Photobucket

It was fun to see my classroom, and meet my new teacher on my birthday.

It happened to be right during the time that we should be having my special birthday dinner.

My mom new it would be too late when we were finished, so I picked a special place to eat instead of a special meal to have at home.

Photobucket

I picked chick-fil-a.  Yum!! I actually felt like eating.  My throat was feeling much better, thanks to the special medicine daddy called in for me.

Thanks dad!!

After dinner, we went home and opened a few more gifts.

Photobucket

I like presents.

Then it was time for cake.

Photobucket

I wanted a blue dragon cake.

I like the way it turned out, my mom worked really hard on this.

I helped by putting the candles in, and then I made a wish.

Photobucket

It was a great day.

  Photobucket

It was fun to be the birthday boy, and get extra hugs and…

Photobucket

kisses.

We love you Isaac!!

Photobucket

Happy Birthday!!
