This morning I woke up to one of those moments that makes your heart jump. One of those moments that makes you realize that you have great kids, and that you love your life.
Jex and Stella have been Best Friends from the moment that Stella was born.
Jex(2 1/2 years, Stella 8 months)
They really do have a special bond. I witnessed that bond firsthand this morning and it brought tears to my eyes.
Last night, around 9:30 Stella fell off a small stool in her room while trying to fix her ceiling fan. She fell on her side, landed on her wrist and broke it. We had to leave the 3 kids home with a friend from church and take Stella to the ER.
Stella was a champ, and suffered through the pain. She has a very high pain tolerance. She was so tired by the time we got home. She crashed and slept until the morning.
We got home from the ER around midnight, and the three kids were already asleep.
When Jex woke up, Stella had already climbed in bed with me.
…and that is when I saw it. I saw that look on his face. The look of complete understanding for his best friend, as he quietly looked at her and whispered, “Are you ok?”
You could see the bond between them. You could see the love that he felt for her.
He then asked if he could make her breakfast.
He has spent the whole day taking care of her. Choosing not to play with his friends and staying home for her.
I love these two, and the relationship that they share. I am proud to have children that respect each other.
Update on Stella: she is doing better. She is still in quite a bit of pain. She has laid around most of the day, and hopes to be out of her cast by the time of her baptism. She turns 8 one week from today. She will be baptized mid September. We have another appt midweek to assess and get a new hard cast.(hopefully waterproof)
Jex and Stella: I hope your bond and friendship will remain forever.
Stella: I hope I can grow up to be as brave as you.
I'm a friend of Lindsays and have met you once or twice! I LOVE reading your blog its always so uplifting and inspiring.. I have no doubt your children are so wonderful because of the amazing examples they have for parents! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeletetear, tear!! How amazingly sweet. Your kids are awesome friends! I hope that one day mine will be friends like that instead of beating each other up all day long! I hope that Stella feels better!
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet big brother. I hope that lasts through the teenage years. She is a lucky girl. My youngest son broke his femur when he was almost three having a body cast put on just after he was potty trained was rough. I hope these next few weeks go by quickly for her.

Oh Stella! I love the look on her face as a 8 month old, that is the Stella I remember in Saba, so somber. Poor girl, I hope she gets feeling better. You do have some great kids!
